Director’s Message

Indian Institute of Information Technology, Design and Manufacturing (IIITDM), Kurnool was youngest among five centrally funded IIITs and established as part of Andhra Pradesh Reorganization act in the academic year 2015-16 at the historical city of Kurnool in Rayalaseema region. Our institute is also recognized as an Institution of National Importance by an act of Parliament. Presently, the institute is having a permanent campus at Jagnnathagattu, Dinnedevrapadu, Kurnool. The institute has started initially B. Tech. programs in Computer Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering and Mechanical Engineering with a total annual intake of 120 students. Our present student strength is 326. IIITDM Kurnool was mentored by IIITDM, Kancheepuram till February 2019. IIITDM Kurnool recruited 12 regular faculty and 4 ad-hoc faculty during 2018-19. All our faculties are having Ph. D. degrees from reputed institutes. The first batch of students who admitted in 2015-16 will be receiving degrees in the First Convocation scheduled to be held during August 2019. All our eligible first batch students have secured placements in reputed industries.  

Campus development in 190 acres of land on the hilltop located at Jagnnathagattu, Kurnool city, which is adjacent to Nandyal – Kadapa highway, is initiated in the year 2016 and is expected to complete in all aspects by 2022. As part of this, CPWD has already taken up the construction activity for two hostel blocks to accommodate 350 students and one mess block and expected to be ready by August 2019. An application is submitted to higher education financing agency (HEFA) for obtaining funds of Rs. 218 crores for ongoing and future construction activities at the campus. 

The institute goal is to provide aesthetically pleasing, environment-friendly green campus facilities to enhance the learning, teaching and inter-disciplinary research activities for all stakeholders.  

I am sure that our students and faculty will carry the flagship of IIITDM Kurnool to greater heights by applying their knowledge in an inter-disciplinary manner to provide solutions for various industrial, and research and development projects and will stand as responsible and dedicated technocrats in the nation building.
